Wuchang: Fallen Feathers: Wu Gang Upgrade Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Wu Gang is the travelling merchant who specialises in weapons, armor, consumables, Benedictions, and Spells — some of which are exclusively available from his shop and cannot be found anywhere else in Shu. His starting stock is minimal, but delivering 9 unique upgrade items across the campaign expands his inventory in stages.

Collecting and delivering all 9 unlocks the Shop of Plenty trophy. All 9 item locations are marked on MapMaster's interactive world maps for Wuchang: Fallen Feathers.

Starting Wu Gang's Questline: Help Him Up

Wu Gang is first encountered next to the Shrine at Lightzen Temple — before the first boss. Choose "Agree to help him up" during this interaction. Without it, Wu Gang does not establish his shop at Shu Sanctum, blocking all further upgrades.

He is a distinct NPC from Tao Qing: while Tao Qing's upgrades mostly come from boss drops, all 9 Wu Gang upgrade items are purple world pickups found through exploration — requiring active searching in side areas and off-path corridors.

Wu Gang's current location is always shown in the fast travel menu at any Shrine as a character portrait. His four campaign locations:

• Chapter 1 — Lightzen Temple (initial encounter, no shop), then Shu Sanctum (first shop)
• Chapter 2 — Snowy Passage, then Refugee Camp
• Endgame — Ruined Annalum

Shop upgrades carry over to New Game Plus.

The Three Red Feather Unlocks

The most critical upgrades in Wu Gang's questline are the three Red Feather stock additions — each gated behind a specific item delivery:

• Faint Red Feathers — unlocked by delivering the Incense Burner. Essential for weapon Mastery +1 to +3.
• Brilliant Red Feathers — unlocked by delivering the Used Mortar. Essential for weapon Mastery +4 to +6. If underpowered in mid-game, check whether the Used Mortar at Shaft Entrance was missed — buying 10 Brilliant Red Feathers from Wu Gang is the fastest way to close the power gap before a major boss.
• Radiant Red Feathers — unlocked by delivering the Gilded Axe. Essential for weapon Mastery +7 to +9.

Exclusive Spells and Benedictions

Beyond Red Feathers and armor, Wu Gang's fully upgraded shop stocks specific Spells and Benedictions unavailable anywhere else — including unique elemental Benedictions that don't appear as world drops.

Players focusing on spell-heavy or Benediction-optimised builds should prioritise completing Wu Gang's questline before the mid-game bosses.

Two Items Requiring Special Approach

Bronze Armor at Avian Marsh — the item sits at the end of a branch in a tree village section, where two large bird-like demons are fighting each other. Wait for the demons to damage or kill each other before approaching — attempting to collect while both are active risks being caught between them.

Black Coral Bracelet at Cloudspire City — from the Snowpeak Pass Shrine, enter the house to the right. Exit through the back door into the alleyway, turn right, and destroy the obstacle blocking a tunnel entrance. The Black Coral Bracelet is on a table at the far end of the tunnel.

All 9 Wu Gang Upgrade Locations in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers

• Lightzen Temple — Golden Bowl: on the cabinet on the ground floor of the building, before the Dhutanga boss gate. Cannot be delivered until Wu Gang is at Shu Sanctum.
• Palace Pass — Incense Burner: on the turtle statue in the small clearing after exiting the cave. Unlocks Faint Red Feathers.
• Mort Grotto — Oil Lamp: next to a corpse by the wooden bridge.
• Cloudspire City — Black Coral Bracelet: at the end of the hidden alleyway tunnel behind the house near the Shrine.
• Shaft Entrance — Used Mortar: on the terrace where the large spider-like demon is fought. Unlocks Brilliant Red Feathers.
• Avian Marsh — Bronze Armor: at the end of the branch in the tree village. Wait for the two bird-like demons to fight each other first.
• Zhenwu Antechamber — Tome of Silver-Seeking: at the end of the balcony, past the spike traps.
• Ruined Palace Entrance — Gilded Axe: in the clearing near the large Avian demon. Unlocks Radiant Red Feathers.
• Capital Entrance — Giant Bronze Arrow: from the Shrine, turn 180° and enter the cave on the left. Take the elevator down to the wide open area with the large white tree and two fighting monsters. The item is on the ground to the right of the tree, between the puddles, near the gray bird enemy guarding the gate.
